“From Vision to Reality: The Making of a MARALOVE Editorial”

Every MARALOVE editorial begins with an idea or inspiration that takes root in my mind—something I see, feel, or hear that lingers until it needs to be translated into something visual. Sometimes it’s a memory or an experience I’ve fallen in love with. This one began with a very early morning walk, when I noticed how inspiring the sea was—the sound of the waves and the cloudy sky. I simply took it in, but it wasn’t until months later that I decided to shoot this session in the same place I had walked, to recreate that quiet romance that seemed to float in the air. I knew I wanted to capture that feeling.

 

Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at how that vision became reality.

 

 

1. The Spark

Inspiration always comes in layers. For this shoot, it was a mix of nostalgia, soul, and softness—those moments when you’re traveling, completely present, and the world feels like a film. I imagined a woman alone in a beautiful place, dressed in pieces that feel like poetry. This is where the soul of MARALOVE lives.

There’s something about lace and water. About red roses on sand. I had this image in my mind: a woman dressed in black, holding beauty and heartbreak in the same breath. The ocean behind her, the story in her posture, not her words.

 

This was a love letter to inner worlds—the kind we don’t always show, but deeply feel.

 

 

2. Mood Board Magic

Once I have the emotional tone, I move to visuals. I spend hours pulling references from old Italian films, photography, vintage fashion editorials, and sometimes even museum archives. I’m drawn to texture, light, and mood—less about the actual clothes and more about the feeling.

 

For this shoot, the palette leaned into warm neutrals, soft whites, and deep reds, with layered fabrics and unexpected silhouettes. I printed photos, spread them across my table with swatches, perfume strips, dried flowers—my physical mood board is a ritual. It grounds me.

 

Before we shot, I built a world in textures: black sequins, vintage lace, gold accents, and red roses. Think Italian cinema, romantic decadence, with a touch of mystery. The palette was intentional—black for strength, red for longing, gold for memory.

 

My mood board was covered in torn pages, old editorials, moody beaches, and soft vintage glamour. Each image spoke to this woman we were about to meet through the lens.

 

 

3. Finding the Right Setting

The location is as important as the clothes. I’m always looking for places with character—something that already tells a story. Sometimes it’s a sun-drenched corner, other times it’s peeling walls, overgrown plants, or reflections on marble floors. We ended up choosing the beach, a space that felt both lived-in and ethereal.

We chose the beach because of its duality—open and infinite, yet deeply personal. It allowed the story to unfold naturally. We didn’t need props beyond what nature offered: sand, tide, air. The absence of noise created space for emotion.

 

 

4. Styling with Emotion

I never style just to look good. I style to make you feel. Every piece has to speak to the narrative. We pulled from MARALOVE’s latest collection, mixing it with vintage and handmade details. One look had an oversized blazer over a delicate slip dress—soft strength. Another, a sheer blouse paired with structured trousers—intimacy and edge.

 

It’s in the layering, in the balance of opposites, that the character of the woman comes to life.

The main look—a black fringed top with sequin shimmer, paired with sheer lace tights—was designed to evoke a kind of powerful vulnerability. She’s dressed like she’s going somewhere, but sitting still. Holding roses like a farewell or a gift. The earrings were bold, sculptural—her armor. The boots, placed beside her, symbolic of what’s been walked through or left behind.

 

Every choice was about creating feeling, not just a look.

 

5. The Team—Where Magic Happens

Creating an editorial is never a solo journey. Ileana and I are always bouncing ideas off each other. I tell her my thoughts and she captures them immediately. Our photographer for this shoot, Yaz Reve, brought an eye that felt like a quiet observer—exactly what we needed.

 

We had the kind of synergy where everyone understood the vision. No egos, just flow. It’s sacred when that happens.

 

Working with Ileana and the rest of the crew felt like building a little creative sanctuary on the sand. We all moved with quiet respect for the moment. Yaz captured Ileana, not just the subject, but her stillness, her internal world. That’s rare.

 

We didn’t over-direct. We allowed presence to lead.

 

6. On Set: In the Moment

There’s always one shot that makes me pause—where everything aligns. The light, the model’s expression, the clothing movement—it’s like the soul of the shoot reveals itself.

 

We listened to the waves as music, let the model move freely, and chased light as it shifted. Some of the best moments weren’t planned—they just happened. And those are always my favorite.

 

There’s a moment in the shoot when time disappears. That happened here.

 

As she sat with the roses in hand, her gaze downward, the ocean rolling behind her, everything just… aligned. We barely spoke. The waves did the talking. It felt like watching a film frame in real time.

 

7. Curation & Final Touches

After the shoot, we go through hundreds of images. I don’t just look for beauty—I look for honesty. I want the final photos to feel like scenes from a memory you didn’t know you had.

 

We edit with a light hand. Contrast, tone, and mood are carefully shaped to match what we felt in the moment. That’s always the goal—to protect the essence.

 

The images that stayed with us were the quiet ones. The ones where you could feel something just by looking. Yaz edited with care—softening where needed, preserving shadows, allowing texture to breathe. The final photos feel like poetry, like memory.

 

 

 

Every MARALOVE editorial is more than a shoot—it’s a little universe we build together. A place where emotion leads, beauty follows, and stories unfold without words. This one was soft, quiet, and cinematic. A love letter to the process.

 

This editorial was less about fashion and more about essence. About capturing a woman in her solitude, her strength, her softness. That’s the heart of MARALOVE—styling stories that speak, even in silence.

“De la Visión a la Realidad: El Nacimiento de un Editorial de MARALOVE”

Cada editorial de MARALOVE comienza de una idea o inspiración que nace en mi mente—algo que veo, siento o escucho y que se queda rondando en mi hasta que necesita traducirse en algo visual. A veces es un recuerdo o una experiencia de la que me he enamorado. Este comenzó con una caminata muy temprano en la mañana, me percate de lo inspirador que era el mar, el ruido de las olas y el cielo nublado. Solo lo percibí pero no fue hasta meses después que decidí hacer esta sesión en el mismo lugar que había caminado, recrear ese romanticismo silencioso que parecía flotar en el aire. Supe que quería recrear esa sensación.

 

Aquí te comparto un detrás de cámaras de cómo esa visión se convirtió en realidad.

 

 

1. La inspiración

La inspiración siempre llega en capas. Para este shooting, fue una mezcla de nostalgia, alma y suavidad—esos momentos en los que estás viajando, completamente presente, y el mundo se siente como una película. Imaginé a una mujer sola en un lugar hermoso, vestida con piezas que se sienten como poesía. Ahí es donde vive el alma de MARALOVE.

Hay algo en el encaje y el agua. En las rosas rojas sobre la arena. Tenía esta imagen en mi mente: una mujer vestida de negro, sosteniendo belleza y dolor en el mismo respiro. El mar detrás de ella, la historia en su postura, no en sus palabras.

 

Esto fue una carta de amor a los mundos internos—esos que no siempre mostramos, pero que sentimos profundamente.

 

2. Magia del Mood Board

Una vez que tengo el tono emocional, paso a lo visual. Paso horas sacando referencias de películas italianas antiguas, fotografía, editoriales vintage de moda y a veces archivos de museos. Me atraen la textura, la luz y la atmósfera—menos la ropa como tal y más la emoción que transmite.

 

Para este shooting, la paleta se inclinó hacia neutros cálidos, blancos suaves y rojos profundos, con telas en capas y siluetas inesperadas. Imprimí fotos, las esparcí sobre mi mesa junto con muestras de tela, tiras de perfume, flores secas—mi mood board físico es un ritual. Me centra y me satisface. Incluir fotos para tu mood board es rico pero tener un mood board con las cosas físicas es delicioso!

 

Antes de comenzar, construí un mundo en texturas: lentejuelas negras, encaje vintage, acentos dorados y rosas rojas. Piensa en cine italiano, decadencia romántica, con un toque de misterio. La paleta fue intencional—negro para la fuerza, rojo para el deseo, dorado para la memoria.

 

Mi mood board estaba cubierto de páginas rasgadas, editoriales antiguas, playas melancólicas y glamour vintage suave. Cada imagen hablaba de esta mujer que estábamos por conocer a través del lente.

 

 

 

3. Encontrar el Lugar Correcto

La ubicación es tan importante como la ropa. Siempre busco lugares con carácter—algo que ya cuente una historia. A veces es una esquina casual pero tiene un rayo pronunciado de sol, otras, paredes descascaradas, plantas que crecen sin control o reflejos en pisos de mármol. Puede ser muy ordinario pero con un toque realzando un detalle extraordinario. Terminamos eligiendo la playa, un espacio que se sentía tanto vivido como etéreo.

La elegimos por su dualidad—abierta e infinita, pero profundamente personal. Permitió que la historia se desarrollara de forma natural. No necesitábamos utilería más allá de lo que la naturaleza ofrecía: arena, marea, aire. La ausencia de ruido creó espacio para la emoción.

 

4. Estilismo con Emoción

Nunca hago styling solo para que se vea bien. Lo hago para hacerte sentir. Cada prenda debe hablarle a la narrativa. Tomamos piezas de la última colección de MARALOVE, mezclándolas con elementos vintage y detalles hechos a mano. Un look llevaba un blazer oversized sobre un vestido lencero delicado—fuerza suave. Otro, una blusa translúcida con pantalones estructurados—intimidad y filo. Todo lo que fue utilizado, es previamente usado. Son piezas que me voy encontrando en el camino y conservo para cuando hay inspiración.

 

Es en las capas, en el equilibrio de los opuestos, donde cobra vida el personaje de la mujer.

El look principal—un top negro con flecos y brillo de lentejuelas, combinado con medias de encaje translúcido—fue diseñado para evocar una vulnerabilidad poderosa. Está vestida como si fuera a algún lugar, pero está inmóvil. Sostiene rosas como una despedida o un regalo. Los aretes eran audaces, escultóricos—su armadura. Las botas, colocadas a un lado, símbolo de lo que ya ha caminado o dejado atrás.

 

Cada elección fue hecha para crear una emoción, no solo un look.

 

5. El Equipo—Donde Sucede la Magia

Crear un editorial nunca es un viaje solitario. Ileana y yo siempre estamos rebotando ideas. Yo le cuento lo que tengo en mente y ella lo capta de inmediato. Nuestra fotógrafa para este shooting, Yaz Reve, trajo una mirada que parecía la de una observadora silenciosa—exactamente lo que necesitábamos.

 

Tuvimos esa sinergia en la que todos entienden la visión. Sin egos, solo fluidez. Es algo sagrado cuando sucede.

 

Trabajar con Ileana y el resto del equipo fue como construir un pequeño santuario creativo en la arena. Todos nos movimos con un respeto silencioso hacia el momento. Yaz capturó no solo a Ileana sino su quietud, su mundo interior. Eso es raro.

 

No dirigimos de más. Dejamos que la presencia guiara.

 

 

6. En el Set: El Momento

Siempre hay una toma que me hace detenerme—donde todo se alinea. La luz, la expresión de Ileana, el movimiento de la ropa—es como si el alma del shooting se revelara.

 

Escuchamos las olas como música, dejamos que Ileana se moviera libremente y seguimos la luz mientras cambiaba. Algunos de los mejores momentos no fueron planeados—simplemente ocurrieron. Y esos siempre son mis favoritos.

 

 

 

Hay un momento en el que el tiempo desaparece. Eso ocurrió aquí.

 

Mientras ella estaba sentada con las rosas en la mano, la mirada baja, el mar rodando detrás de ella, todo simplemente… se alineó. Casi no hablamos. Las olas hicieron todo el diálogo. Fue como ver un fotograma de cine en tiempo real.

 

7. Curaduría y Toques Finales

Después del shooting, pasamos por cientos de imágenes. No busco solo belleza—busco honestidad. Quiero que las fotos finales se sientan como escenas de un recuerdo que no sabías que tenías.

 

Editamos con mano ligera. Contraste, tono y atmósfera se moldean cuidadosamente para reflejar lo que sentimos en el momento. Ese es siempre el objetivo—proteger la esencia.

 

Las imágenes que se quedaron con nosotras fueron las silenciosas. Las que te hacen sentir algo solo con mirarlas. Yaz editó con cuidado—suavizando lo necesario, preservando sombras, dejando que la textura respirara. Las fotos finales se sienten como poesía, como memoria.

 

 

 

Cada editorial de MARALOVE es más que un shooting—es un pequeño universo que construimos juntas. Un lugar donde la emoción guía, la belleza sigue y las historias se despliegan sin palabras. Este fue suave, silencioso y cinematográfico. Una carta de amor al proceso.

 

Este editorial fue menos sobre moda y más sobre esencia. Sobre capturar a una mujer en su soledad, su fuerza, su suavidad. Ese es el corazón de MARALOVE—estilismo que cuenta historias, incluso en silencio.
