'Quiet Stories': “Polaroids to Remember the Invisible”

When we began creating Quiet Stories, we wanted every detail to speak for itself, without the need for too many words. Polaroids became an essential part of that language.
Unlike digital photography, which allows for endless retakes and corrections, Polaroids forced us to be present. Each photograph was unique, unrepeatable, carrying its own imperfection and magic. This became a mirror of the collection’s message: the deepest truths don’t need perfection, only authenticity.
The soft, almost ethereal effect of these images transports us to a memory we’re not sure is ours or inherited. That feeling of nostalgia—like looking through a veiled window—connects with the spirit of Quiet Stories: what is intuited rather than shouted, what is remembered rather than shown.
With every Polaroid we sought to capture the fragility and strength of the everyday: a cup held in the hands, a still gesture, the quietness of an instant that becomes eternal. Because within those small silences, beauty also resides.
The Polaroids were not accidental, but a very conscious choice.
Yaz, encouraging me to step in front of the camera after we had decided on Polaroids, said with a laugh:
“Yes, with a Polaroid it will be perfect, because it naturally has a filter—the kind that protects you when you’re not yet ready to fully show your artistic side.”
And I, laughing, replied: “Yes, exactly!”
It made me smile because it was true. Taking pictures or selfies has never intimidated me, but expressing my art through photographs is still something I find challenging.
Perhaps that’s why the Polaroids became the bridge: with their soft veil, with that nostalgic texture that doesn’t reveal everything but leaves just enough to the imagination. It was a way of allowing myself to appear, but at my own pace, with the protection of a filter that isn’t technological, but poetic.
Each image in this series, then, becomes an intimate mirror: a way of inhabiting silence, of showing without showing, of speaking without words.

'Silencios que Hablan': “Polaroids para recordar lo invisible”

Cuando comenzamos a crear Silencios que Hablan, quisimos que cada detalle hablara por sí mismo, sin necesidad de demasiadas palabras. Las Polaroids fueron parte esencial de ese lenguaje.
A diferencia de la fotografía digital, que permite infinitas repeticiones y correcciones, las Polaroids nos obligaron a estar presentes. Cada fotografía era única, irrepetible, con su propia imperfección y magia. Eso se convirtió en un espejo del mensaje de la colección: lo más profundo no necesita perfección, solo autenticidad.
El efecto suave, casi etéreo, que producen estas imágenes, nos transporta a un recuerdo que no sabemos si es nuestro o heredado. Esa sensación de nostalgia —como ver a través de una ventana velada— se conecta con el espíritu de Silencios que Hablan: lo que se intuye más que lo que se grita, lo que se recuerda más que lo que se muestra.
Con cada Polaroid buscamos capturar la fragilidad y fuerza de lo cotidiano: una taza en las manos, un gesto detenido, la quietud de un instante que se convierte en eterno. Porque en esos pequeños silencios también habita la belleza.
Las Polaroids no fueron una casualidad, sino una elección muy consciente.
Yaz, empujándome a que saliera en las fotografías, después de que concluimos en tomarlas con Polaroid, me dice entre risas:
“Sí pues, con la cámara Polaroid será perfecto porque naturalmente tiene un filtro, ese filtro que te protege de aún no estar preparada para mostrar tu lado artístico.”
Y yo, entre risas, le respondí: “¡Sí, exacto!”
Me hizo gracia porque era verdad. Tomarme fotos o selfies nunca me ha intimidado, pero expresar mi arte a través de fotografías aún me cuesta trabajo.
Quizás por eso las Polaroids fueron el puente: con su velo suave, con esa textura nostálgica que no revela todo, sino lo justo para dejar espacio a la imaginación. Fue como permitirme aparecer, pero a mi propio ritmo, con la protección de un filtro que no es tecnológico, sino poético.
Así, cada imagen de esta serie se convierte en un espejo íntimo: una forma de habitar el silencio, de mostrar sin mostrar, de hablar sin palabras.
